KIDS FROM PLANET EARTH THEATRICAL PLAY
The creative team behind the Kids from Planet Earth web series has also written a theatrical stage show called the Kids from Planet Earth—a hilarious and playful show with a timely message for kids of all ages.
The play highlights ways to live a healthy and sustainable lifestyle and is a perfect story for your theater group to perform for kids’ groups or schools. In our region, a talented cast of kids ranging in age from 6-20 and a smattering of adults performed the play at 12 elementary and middle schools with more than 4,200 children in attendance.
Play synopsis: A small group of kids have noticed their parents acting a little weird—weirder than usual. They’re turning into buying zombies with little regard for the health of the planet. With guidance from a mysterious and invisible being the kids form a team, the Kids from Planet Earth. Their mission: stop the grownups from turning the planet into a giant garbage can. The kids eventually come face to face with the real villains of the story, Major Drool and Private Buddle—two bumbling fools who control the grownups and are now after the kids.
After each live performance, kids in the audience are encouraged to visit the KFPE website. There they can watch Major Drool’s outlandish music video and participate in a fun and meaningful follow-up activity, the KFPE CHALLENGE. The KFPE CHALLENGE is an opportunity for kids to become aware of the Yuck that surrounds them (in the air, water, food, etc.) and take action to help maintain the health of the planet.
The kids are challenged to complete three actions by themselves or with friends. Whoever completes the actions will be recognized on the KFPE website, social media sites and are eligible to have a feature story written about them and their experience.
